The Standard reports that Chelsea are open to letting Liam Delap leave this summer amid Nottingham Forest interest.

Delap is understood to want to stay and compete for a place under Xabi Alonso after a £30m move last summer. The report adds Alonso is ready to sanction an exit after signing Danny Welbeck and Emmanuel Emegha, with Joao Pedro set to lead the line.

Delap endured an injury-hit first season at Stamford Bridge, scoring just one Premier League goal. He made 12 league starts and largely served as back-up to Pedro.

After a pre-season match against Western Sydney Wanderers, Alonso said Delap had worked hard for 60 minutes, linked play well and was preparing for the season.

He also played down any confidence concerns, saying the striker was in good spirits and focused on building fitness.
