The Blues trailed at the break and were perhaps unlucky not to find a late winner
Chelsea dropped points in the Champions League as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Qarabag in Baku.
The Blues took the lead through teen star Estevao early on but then paid for two mistakes by Jorrel Hato as Leandro Andrade and a penalty from Marko Jankovic sent Qarabag to the dressing room ahead.
But Enzo Maresca made a triple change at half-time and it half-worked, with Alejandro Garnacho levelling the game. With more clinical finishing they would have stolen victory, but the Blues had to settle for a point.
Standard Sport’s Dom Smith was on hand to rate the Chelsea players’ performances…
Robert Sanchez 5
Didn’t get near the penalty and could not prevent Leandro’s deflected opener from going in either.
Reece James 6
Made some important clearances against a Qarabag side that really threatened. Booked.
Tosin Adarabioyo 5
Gave the ball away in a horrendous area in the second half but was otherwise just about OK.
Jorrel Hato 3
A bit of a nightmare evening for him. At fault for the opening goal and again directly to blame for the conceding of the penalty for the second. Must learn from this but is still only 19, and his second-half display was better.

Marc Cucurella 6
Never stopped nibbling at the feet of the Qarabag players, and that fight was needed.
Andrey Santos 6
Assisted Estevao’s opening goal but was replaced at half-time in favour of Enzo Fernandez.
Romeo Lavia N/A
A devastating night for the Belgian really as he left the field in the sixth minute due to injury and was replaced by Moises Caicedo.
Estevao Willian 8
Scored a sensational opening goal as he twisted onto his left foot and found the bottom corner and was a threat whenever found out on the right.

Joao Pedro 6
Linked play well as a No10 but without ever having a shot himself. Held the ball up.
Jamie Gittens 4
Had plenty of chances on the left wing but was wasteful and not clinical with them and was dispossessed on a couple of occasions.
Tyrique George 5
Took up some decent positions as Chelsea started brightly but was docked at half-time in favour of Liam Delap.
Subs:
Moises Caicedo (Lavia, 8’) 6
Had to come on for Lavia as early as the eighth minute do to the injury so was not given the rest he deserved. Tackled well, as ever.

Good as gold: Moises Caicedo was called upon earlier than expected but stunned nonetheless

Liam Delap (George, 46’) 5
Should have taken at least one of the chances he had in front of goal but his powerful running helped him get into those positions.
Alejandro Garnacho (Gittens, 46’) 7
Was the man of the moment when he mad his appearance count by scoring a superbly struck equaliser. (But then a later shot went out for a throw-in).
Enzo Fernandez (Santos, 46’) 6
Solid in midfield and nearly scored an outstanding goal when he bursted forward and fired just over.
Facundo Buonanotte (Joao Pedro, 72’) 6
Made some nice runs and almost a stunning late winner.
Not used: Jorgensen, Merrick, Acheampong, Chalobah, Gusto, Fofana, Guiu
