The forward continues to have little impact, while Enzo Maresca’s changes produced nothing

Chelsea’s four-game winning run was brought to an abrupt halt on Saturday as Chemsdine Talbi struck in the 93rd minute to hand Sunderland a famous 2-1 win at Stamford Bridge.

Alejandro Garnacho gave Chelsea an early lead as he latched onto Pedro Neto’s pass before finishing from a tight angle to give the Blues the perfect start.

However, despite Chelsea’s dominance, it was Sunderland who’d strike next as Wilson Isidor capitalised on a long throw from Nordi Mukiele to bring the visitors level after 22 minutes.

Chelsea continued to control possession after the break, but struggled to break Sunderland down, and the Black Cats struck right at the death to steal all three points as substitute Talbi swept home to send Regis Le Bris’ side second.

Robert Sanchez 5

Didn’t have much to do, and yet found himself picking the ball out of the back of the net twice on a torrid afternoon for the Blues.

Reece James 6

Tried to make things happen in the final third, delivering a number of inviting crosses into the box, but Chelsea’s attack were just not on the same page. A moment of petulance right at the end almost threatened to spoil his afternoon further.

Josh Acheampong 3

His failure to step up as Mukiele’s long throw was cleared meant he played Isidor onside to score Sunderland’s equaliser. Made a good block as Granit Xhaka looked to get a shot off inside the area.

Trevoh Chalobah 5

Put his head in where it hurt, making the most headed clearances of any Chelsea player. Undone on the break as Brobbey sprung the offside trap to open up the opportunity for Sunderland’s winner.

Marc Cucurella 5

At times, the furthest Chelsea player forward, his late runs caused some issues for Sunderland early on. Didn’t have the same influence after Sunderland’s equaliser

Enzo Fernandez 5

Couldn’t find his range in possession. A couple of tame second-half efforts were all he could muster by way of an attacking influence.

Moises Caicedo 5

Wasn’t able to impact the game as he would have liked, as Sunderland’s midfield swarmed all over him.

Pedro Neto 6

A mixed performance from Neto. Played a lovely sweeping pass out to Garnacho for Chelsea’s opening goal, but presented with the chance to send Garnacho clean through again after the break, he fluffed his lines.

Joao Pedro 4

Battled away in a slightly deeper role, but became increasingly frustrated as the game wore on. Threw himself to the ground under minimal contact in a desperate attempt to win a penalty before half-time. Took just three touches in the opposition penalty area.

Alejandro Garnacho 7

Opened the scoring with an excellent finish from a tight angle, and nearly restored Chelsea’s lead from a corner. Responded well to his early withdrawal against Nottingham Forest last weekend, but was replaced early in the second half. Overall, a positive afternoon for the winger.

Marc Guiu 4

Plenty of energy but not a lot of finesse from the young Spaniard on his first Premier League start. Struggled to get into the game after the break and took just 10 touches in total before being replaced by Jamie Gittens. This performance was a reminder of his inexperience.

Estevao 5

At 18, he is already considered Chelsea’s saving grace. His every touch was cheered on by the home supporters, but Chelsea struggled to get the young Brazilian into the game.

Tosin 4

Had to be stronger up against Bryan Brobbey, who held off Tosin before laying the ball back to Talbi for the winning goal.

Jamie Gittens 4

Presented with the chance to run at Sunderland’s backline, he struggled.

Andrey Santos 4

Picked up a needless yellow card as frustrations threatened to boil over for Chelsea late on.

Tyrique George 4

Caught off guard by a headed opportunity straight after his introduction. Took just four touches.
