Chelsea defender Malo Gusto says he has a very bold goal to achieve, and that is to become the best in the world in his position.

It’s a massive call to be honest and to be the best in the world in his position, at right back, he is even going to need to overthrow and get better than his current club captain, Reece James.

Many believe that the England international is already the best right back in the world when he is fully fit and in form, which he has been a lot more lately. So Gusto has a long way to go to overtake James and become the best right back in the world.

I do admire his attitude and ambition though, it’s great to aim as high as possible. I think Gusto is a decent player and whilst he doesn’t have the best attacking traits, I think as a right back he is a very solid player.

Whether he has enough to become the best in the world in that position though, I’m not so sure.

Gusto aims very high

In words cited on X this week, Gusto said:

“My goal is to be the best in the world in my position.”

Well, all the very best of luck with that one, Malo. You can have dreams and you can achieve whatever you set your mind out to achieve, no matter how big a goal that is. Let’s hope he does it.

In other news today…

Matt Law of The Telegraph reported earlier this week that Chelsea are “making it clear” to their players that booking for dissent won’t be tolerated anymore.

Chelsea don’t have long to stew over their defeat – they’re back in action against Aston Villa on Wednesday night, and have some important players close to returning to action.
