A viral clip of Pedro Neto not passing to Cole Palmer on Saturday has gone a little viral in Chelsea circles, illustrating the frustration that many Blues fans feel towards him.

Cole Palmer scores against Wolves.
He’s getting some defence too: Kieran Gill’s whole piece in the Daily Mail today is a defence of the Portugal winger from some of the more unfair accusations he’s getting right now.
On the subject of Saturday’s game alone, Gill makes the very valid point that:
“It was Neto’s clever dummy, and then his strength and speed and cross, which preceded Joao Pedro winning the first penalty. He played a minor role in the second penalty, simply playing the ball back to Malo Gusto before his pass for Joao Pedro to chase.”
It wasn’t just there either:
“He was then key to the build-up to the visitors’ third goal as he held up the ball before sending it wide to Enzo Fernandez, who played in Marc Cucurella, who cut back for Cole Palmer to make it 3-0.”
Overall, some nice contributions which won’t show up on his stats sheet for the game. Are we happy with Neto’s contribution overall? Not really, but people also need to be realistic about what he does contribute, and why both Enzo Maresca and Liam Rosenior have had him as their first choice wide man this season.
Liam Delap is also getting a lot of criticism at the moment, but his goals per minute stat isn’t too bad. Maybe he just needs more time on the pitch?
Neto is struggling right now – yesterday was another poor game for the Portuguese winger, despite the contributions noted above. Only Alejandro Garnacho’s poor form and Jamie Gittens’ poor form is keeping Neto in the team right now.
