Chelsea are considering a move for Nottingham Forest defender Murillo, according to UOL Esporte.

The Blues want another defender and have earmarked the Forest centre-half as a possible target.

Murillo played a crucial role as Forest escaped relegation last term despite taking point deductions for breaching the Premier League’s financial rules.

The 21-year-old left-footed defender impressed, helping his side keep three clean sheets while winning 49% of his duels.

Forest want to balance their books ahead of next season. They need to sell some players, and Murillo is a £50 million rated asset.

Atletico Madrid have also been linked with a move for the former Corinthians star, although the La Liga giants may have moved on to other targets.

However, it is unclear whether Chelsea will move for Murillo. The club has several centre-backs waiting in the wings, and adding another to the mix makes no sense.

Chelsea have two left-footed defenders, Benoit Badiashile and Levi Colwill. They have Tosin Adarabioyo, Axel Disasi, Trevoh Chalobah and Wesley Fofana on the right side.

The Blues do not need a new defender and would be better served by turning their attention to other areas of the pitch that need reinforcements.

Chelsea must bring in competition for Nicolas Jackson and a left-winger to take the starting berth from disappointing pair Raheem Sterling and Mykhailo Mudryk.

They have reportedly sealed deals for teenage strikers Marc Guiu and Omari Kellyman, but the pair are not ready for first-team football.

The two-time Champions League winners have Samu Omorodion, Jonathan David and Jhon Duran on their shortlist.

A new left-back and goalkeeper are also required.
