Chelsea race to reinforce defence: Rosenior targets centre-back with Guehi, Jacquet and Ramón on shortlist | OneFootball

Chelsea are assessing the transfer market for a potential centre-back signing this month.

Liam Rosenior has made the addition of a central defender his first priority as head coach. The West Londoners have Trevoh Chalobah, Tosin Adarabioyo, Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile as available senior options, with Levi Colwill currently sidelined by an ACL injury.

Axel Disasi also remains atChelsea but has been frozen out this season. However, Rosenior hinted this week that he could recall the Frenchman, who has trained away from the main group throughout the current campaign.

"Axel is someone I've really, really liked as a player for a long time,"Rosenior said earlier this week.

"Honestly, I have to have a conversation with them (Disasi and Raheem Sterling). I have to have a conversation with the club. I'm being genuinely honest."

Chelsea made an attempt to sign Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth last summer, but missed out on the Spanish defender to Real Madrid.

Interest remains in another centre-back withFabrizio Romano reporting the club are conducting a thorough search of the market.

A deal has been agreed for Deinner Ordóñez of Independiente Del Valle, with the 16-year-old set to arrive in January 2027. However, plans for a more senior option are being accelerated.

One option that could appeal is Marc Guehi. The Crystal Palace captain came through the ranks atChelsea but made just two senior appearances before leaving for Selhurst Park. Guehi has since evolved into an England regular and is out of contract in the summer.

Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City are among thePremier League clubs keen, alongside European giants including Bayern Munich and Barcelona.

Although Guehi is leaning towards concluding the campaign at Palace and leaving as a free agent, a bid in the region of £30m-£35m could persuade the Eagles to sell now.
