Chelsea rally from two goals down to thrash Leeds | OneFootball

Chelsea produced a remarkable second-half turnaround to beat Leeds United 6-3 and book their place in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup at Stamford Bridge.

The visitors were the better side before the break and deservedly took the lead when Tarik Muharemovic headed home from Harry Wilson’s corner.

Chelsea struggled to create much, with Jamie Gittens’ effort from a tight angle their clearest opening.

Xabi Alonso responded with four changes at half-time, introducing Cole Palmer, Pedro Neto, Morgan Rogers and Reece James. Leeds, however, struck again three minutes after the restart as Brenden Aaronson finished Lukas Nmecha’s flick to make it 2-0.

That sparked an extraordinary response. Palmer pulled one back from the penalty spot before curling Chelsea level just two minutes later.

Neto then completed the turnaround with a fine finish from the edge of the box, before Danny Welbeck made it 4-2 five minutes later, with Rogers providing his third assist of the half.

Leeds reduced the deficit through Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but Valentin Barco restored Chelsea’s two-goal cushion with his first goal for the club. Welbeck then added a sixth in stoppage time, completing his brace and sealing a remarkable comeback.
