In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey mentioned that Chelsea remain keen on signing Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara this January. It has been claimed that the Blues are still hoping to land the French talent after failing to do so earlier this summer.

Camara’s Impressive Form In Ligue 1

Camara has enjoyed a good run of form at the French club in this campaign so far after putting in a few eye-catching performances for them in the middle of the park. The 22-year-old has registered one goal and grabbed one assist in seven matches for Monaco this season across all fronts.

The French youngster is currently among the most gifted central midfielders in Ligue 1. Thus, it is no wonder that the Blues are still keeping tabs on his progress ahead of a potential move for him next year.

His current contract at Monaco will run out in the summer of 2029, which could make it tough for Chelsea to sign on a cut-price deal this winter or at the end of this campaign.

Should Chelsea Boss Xabi Alonso Snap Camara Up?

Camara loves a tackle and can sense the danger well to earn possession back for his team at the centre of the park. He usually clears the danger when the opposition are on the offensive and is an accurate passer as well from midfield.

The French sensation can even contribute by scoring and creating the odd goal for his side. Camara is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also serve as a defensive midfielder or play in the number ten position if asked to do so. However, there are some concerns over whether he can adapt to the physical demands and high intensity of the Premier League if the Blues manage to get a deal done for him in 2027.

We can expect Camara to enhance the quality of Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso’s midfield. He has what it takes to compete for a regular first-team place at Stamford Bridge in the coming years.

At 22, Camara has the potential to be a world-class player in his position someday. Hence, the West London giants would be wise to go all out to snap him up in the January transfer period or next summer.
