After beating Port Vale in the FA Cup on Saturday, Chelsea have a free week before their Premier League run in gets cracking. There are seven league games left, almost all of them really challenging. So how are the Blues shaping up?

Loss of key pillars risks costing Chelsea their season

In defence, confusion continues to reign. Marc Cucurella is the outstanding left back, but apart from that there are questions everywhere. Reece James is set to miss at least another month injured, and at centre back Liam Rosenior has tried every combination without success.

While Trevoh Chalobah is out, expect to see Wesley Fofana to continue playing despite his poor form. Alongside him it could be any one of Tosin, Mamadou Sarr or even Benoit Badiashile, depending on who dropped the latest clanger.

Considering the goalkeepers behind them can’t be trusted, it’s very worrying to have a total lack of confidence in the defence. Chalobah and James will be back – but it may be too late by then. Man City and Man U are up next, and Tottenham, Liverpool and Brighton are bound to threaten in their games too.

How many clean sheets can we realistically expect from our final seven league fixtures?

In other news…

In goal, things are a lot clearer thanks to a well-timed injury to Filip Jorgensen.
