Chelsea set £25m price tag for wantaway defender Axel Disasi

Chelsea are ready to cash in on Axel Disasi this summer and have placed a £25 million asking price on the French defender, according to The Standard.

The Blues are one of the most active Premier League clubs in the transfer market this summer as new manager Xabi Alonso continues to reshape his squad ahead of the new season.

After failing to qualify for any of UEFA’s three European competitions, Chelsea are wary of going into the 2026/27 season with a bloated squad.

As much as reinforcing the squad is a priority, the Blues are also focused on flogging their deadwood, and Disasi could be the next to leave the club this summer.

The Frenchman had already fallen down the pecking order at Chelsea before Alonso came in, and the Spanish tactician has no plan to reintegrate him into the team.

The 28-year-old has not played for Chelsea’s senior team since he made a substitute appearance against Wolverhampton Wanderers in January 2025.

He made a few appearances for Chelsea’s development side after being frozen out of the first team before going on short loan spells at Aston Villa and West Ham United.

His latest loan spell at West Ham gave him a chance to rebuild his reputation.

While the Hammers were unable to avoid relegation to the Championship, Disasi was one of the standout performers during his time at the club.

He did enough for West Ham to consider signing him permanently, but those plans became more difficult after their relegation from the Premier League.

West Ham are still interested in signing Disasi, but the Frenchman doesn’t want to play in the Championship. He wants a move that allows him to keep competing at the highest level.

Chelsea are now looking for a buyer willing to meet their £25m valuation, and recent reports claim that Crystal Palace are considering a move for Disasi.

Chelsea signed Disasi from AS Monaco for around £40m in 2023. He’ll hope to get a permanent move away from Stamford Bridge this summer to rebuild his career.
