Chelsea are due to announce the signing of Valentin Barco from Strasbourg imminently.

Chelsea agreed a deal to sign the 22-year-old earlier this year with the versatile Argentina international due to be unveiled as a new signing shortly.

Barco joined BlueCo owned Strasbourg from Brighton in 2025 and has impressed in Ligue 1. Having struggled to make an impact with Brighton, where he made only six Premier League appearances, Barco emerged as one of French football’s best prospects.

Last season, the Argentine led all Ligue 1 midfielders for through passes, passes into the penalty box, and ranked fifth for forward passes and crosses. Barco can also operate at left-back or on the left side of midfield.

Fabrizio Romano has reported that all documents have been signed for the player’s move to Chelsea, with head coach Xabi Alonso ready to welcome Barco into his plans.

The midfielder was part of the Argentina squad that finished runners-up at this summer’s World Cup and was involved in an altercation with Jude Bellingham, following the semi-final win over England.
