Chelsea star ready to return against Wolves – but Maresca says he must ‘protect’ trio | OneFootball

Chelsea striker Liam Delap is available for selection for the Carabao Cup clash against Wolves.

The forward has been out since August with a hamstring injury but could make his return on Wednesday night.

“Yes, he took part in a complete session yesterday and is available for tomorrow,” Maresca said when asked if he is available.

“No, 90 minutes, no. It’s I think two months now that he’s out, so he needs gradually back to 100%.”

Maresca also confirmed there would be changes to his team again for the game with Wolves, stressing he needs to “protect” players such as Moises Caicedo, Joao Pedro and Enzo Fernandez who are nursing injury concerns.

“Yeah, probably they are players that need to be protected for many reasons,” Maresca said.

“So probably tomorrow we’ll see. But yeah, Enzo, Moises, Joao, they are all players that for different reasons we need to protect them.”
