Chelsea left-back Landon Emenalo has travelled to Scotland to hold talks with Celtic over a potential loan move, according to Sky Sports.
The 18-year-old was in Glasgow on Wednesday to meet Celtic representatives and tour the club’s facilities.
The Scottish champions are considering Emenalo as one of several options to provide cover for Kieran Tierney.
The move could be an important step in Emenalo’s development.
The Blues have invested heavily in strengthening their options at left-back this summer, meaning opportunities for the teenager could be limited.
Chelsea completed deals for Pep Chavarria and Valentin Barco during the transfer window, further fortifying the position.
Jorrel Hato can also operate at left-back, despite playing centrally, while Chelsea have several other defensive options within their squad and academy set-up.
That makes a temporary switch to Scotland an attractive proposition for Emenalo, provided Celtic can offer him the game time he needs.
Celtic are looking for another left-back to share the workload with Tierney.
A loan is Celtic’s preferred route for Emenalo, although they have not completely ruled out making a permanent signing in the position.
Chelsea have several players they need to get off their books permanently and send on loan before the close of the transfer window.
Chelsea must decide what to do with David Datro Fofana, Caleb Wiley, Gaga Slonina, Marc Guiu, Tosin Adarabioyo, Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile.
Enzo Fernandez, Malo Gusto and Pedro Neto have been linked with moves away. Emanuel Emegha, Nicolas Jackson and Liam Delap may also leave.
Dastan Satpaev, Dario Essugo, Deivid Washington, Omari Kellyman, Aaron Anselmino, Mamadou Sarr and Kendry Paez could benefit from loan moves.
