Chelsea youngster Chizaram Ezenwata stole the show as England registered their first win at the U17 World Cup, thrashing Haiti 8-1 on Friday.
The 17-year-old came off the bench to score a hat-trick in a dominant display by the Young Lions.
Ezenwata had initially been called up to the Nigeria U-20 squad ahead of the tournament, but he chose to represent England.
Tottenham Hotspur’s Luca Williams-Barnett got England off to a flying start, scoring inside 60 seconds.
Manchester City youngster Reigan Heskey doubled England’s lead, but Haiti reduced the deficit shortly after through Franco Celestin.
Reggie Walsh, who just signed his first professional contract with Chelsea, restored England’s two-goal cushion before half-time.
Alejandro Rodriguez added to the Young Lions’ tally before Ezenwata stole the spotlight.
The young centre-forward scored his first with a simple finish after Heskey’s effort.
Williams-Barnett made it 6-1 before Ezenwata netted his second, slotting Bendito Mantato’s low cross into the bottom corner.
He rounded off the scoring with style, racing behind Haiti’s defence to latch onto Walsh’s pass and squeezing the ball into the net.
Ezenwata is the first England player to score a hat-trick at the U17 World Cup since former Liverpool prospect Rhian Brewster achieved the feat against Brazil in 2017.
