Real Madrid’s summer transfer plans have revolved primarily around two positions – centre-back and central midfield, and it is the latter which is seen as the bigger priority after last season.
After all, Los Blancos seriously lacked depth in the department in 2025-26, especially in terms of a controlling and creative presence.
The men in white, thus, are keeping a close eye on the market for any opportunities they can pounce on, and Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez has been seen as an option for a while now.
As reported by Ben Jacobs in a recent update, Enzo Fernandez’s agent Javier Pastore has been in direct contact with Real Madrid over the future of his client and a potential move in June.

Los Blancos, however, are yet to decide if Fernandez indeed matches the profile of the midfielder they are hunting for this summer.
Real Madrid’s big question is whether they should go for a more traditional and defined number 6 such as Rodri or a more versatile central midfielder like Fernandez, both of which decisions have their own pros and cons.
The English journalist further clarifies that Fernandez is keen on leaving Real Madrid this summer and that he would welcome a bid from Real Madrid – the club he indirectly flirted with a few months ago.
His current employers, however, value him at a staggering £120 million, a sum that is far too high even in today’s inflated transfer market.
While Real Madrid may indeed be able to afford the aforementioned sum, BBC Sport make it clear that they are unwilling to spend such a fortune on the Chelsea star unless they are able to raise significant money from player failure.
Everything, thus, comes down to Real Madrid’s decision on their need and their ability to sell deadwood for a decent sum.
