Estevao Willian was one of the stars of the show for Chelsea on Tuesday night as they defeated FC Barcelona 3-0 at Stamford Bridge in the UEFA Champions League.

The 18-year-old Brazilian sensation, who had been a target for Barça in the past, caused a lot of trouble for the Catalans with his movement and capped off his performance with a brilliant goal in the second half.

Estevao still has a special place in his heart for Barcelona

Speaking on Que t’hi Jugues earlier today, Andre Cury, the agent of Estevao, revealed that the youngster still holds a special place in his heart for Barcelona, leaving the door open for a future transfer.

“Estevao has a five-year contract and is enjoying his time at Chelsea. But he has a special affection for Barcelona,” said Cury, who has close ties with the Blaugrana.

Confirming that he had offered the Brazilian’s services to the La Liga champions on many occasions in the past, the agent added:

“We talked to Barça about Estevao in 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024. We offered the player because I believed he would have a great future. But Barça were not doing well economically.”

Continuing, he revealed that the Blaugrana’s sporting department, led by director Deco, was always in favour of signing Estevao, but the poor finances had tied his hands.

“The people in Barça’s technical staff always approved the signing of Estevao, but Deco was tied up because the club’s economy didn’t allow it,” he confirmed.

As reported earlier, apart from the financial situation, another major reason for Barcelona not pushing for Estevao’s signing was the emergence of Lamine Yamal.

Both the teenage wonderkids play in the same position, and the Catalans felt that signing the Brazilian would not be conducive to his own development and might also hinder Lamine’s progress.
