Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Rennes right-back Guéla Doué (21) is set to sign for Premier League side Chelsea before being loaned out to BlueCo-owned Ligue 1 outfit Strasbourg. L’Equipe reported earlier today that the Ivory Coast international was set to join Les Alsaciens after rejecting an approach from Turkish Süper Lig side Galatasaray.
The older brother of PSG and Bayern Munich target Désiré Doué (19) proved to be one of the most consistent and reliable Rennes defenders last season. He took part in 33 games across all competitions, logging two assists, in replacing Rennes right-back Lorenz Assignon (24), who spent the past campaign on loan at Burnley.
Rennes are set to receive a €9m transfer fee, including €2m worth of add-ons, for Chelsea for the transfer of Guéla Doué, who was entering his final contract year for Les Bretons.
