Latest Chelsea transfer rumours includes an update on the club’s search for defensive and midfield reinforcements

Chelsea, unsurprisingly, are being tipped to do even more business when the transfer window reopens in less than four months.

This is despite an extremely summer which saw plenty of new faces arrive, including Morgan Rogers who has hit the ground running as part of a devastating attacking trio alongside Cole Palmer and Joao Pedro.

However, the Blues still look short in other areas - particularly in defence and midfield - with failure to replace Enzo Fernandez on transfer Deadline Day leaving Xabi Alonso to pray Moises Caicedo can stay fit once he has recovered from a knock.

The latest Chelsea headlines suggests work is going on behind the scenes to ensure the squad is in an even stronger position for the second half of the season.

'Chelsea eye Man City defender’

Chelsea have started the season with their defence leaking goals left, right and centre.

In the Premier League, Chelsea have conceded at least two goals in each of their opening five matches, resulting in defeats to Arsenal and Brentford as well as a draw at home to newly-promoted Hull.

As such, defence is something the Blues will look to bolster in January - despite signing Marco Palestra, Pep Chavarria and Maxence Lacroix in the summer.

According to CaughtOffside, Chelsea are ‘keeping a close eye on’ Manchester City’s Abdukodir Khusanov ahead of the winter transfer window.

The report claims despite Khusanov recently signing a new Man City contract, it remains to be seen if he will continue to be a regular starter under new head coach Enzo Maresca.

Chelsea 'discussing Scott deal'

Alex Scott remains on Chelsea's radar ahead of the January transfer window.

Scott, who rejected a new contract offer from Bournemouth in the summer, has been a long time target for Chelsea and was subject of a bid worth £64million in July.

While that offer was knocked back, it has not deterred the Blues.

According to CaughtOffside, Chelsea have been holding internal discussions over central midfield targets for the January transfer window.

The report states that Scott and Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton are the two main names under consideration at Stamford Bridge.

However, it is also claimed the Blues are not expected to go back in for Lamine Camara after the difficulties in dealing with Monaco this summer.

Chelsea target’s next move ‘revealed’

Gambian football expert Baboucarr Fallaboweh has said more clubs are likely to join the battle for Adama Jeng, after Chelsea showed interest.

It has been reported that Chelsea are one of a number of top European sides tracking Jeng after the 15-year-old caught the eye of scouts while representing his nation’s U17 side at a youth tournament in Senegal.

As per Sport Witness, Fallaboweh believes it is more likely Jeng will join a Scandinavian club to enjoy more game time before moving to a top European league.

He said: “That’s right. Even if England is mentioned, his agent is targeting clubs from Scandinavia. That can give him greater chance for him [of taking the next step].

“What I can say is that he will not have a problem going to England to have trials with clubs there. Because, I’ve seen Gambian players going to Liverpool, Nottingham Forest etc, to have trials.

“With a trial, a door opens. Gradually, now when the [next edition] of U17 AFCON kickoffs in Morocco, there you will see more of him. That’s where clubs can put in concrete offers.”
