Chelsea striker Armando Broja’s loan transfer to Ipswich Town is reportedly “in danger of falling apart”.

The two clubs had agreed on a season-long loan deal that would become permanent for £30 million if the Tractor Boys avoid relegation from the Premier League this season.

The move appeared to be a done deal after the Albania international underwent medical tests on Thursday.

However, the Guardian reported on Saturday claiming that “paperwork issues” – which are not on Chelsea‘s end – are holding it up and could lead to its collapse.

It’s claimed that the transfer is “not completely off”, but Ipswich are said to be “looking at alternative options” before the window closes on 30 August.

Additionally, Sky Sports News report that “one source has told us his medical highlighted an issue” and the move is “unlikely to happen”.

If the deal were to break down it would be a major blow to Chelsea and manager Enzo Maresca, who are trying to scale down their massive senior squad, which numbers more than 40 players.

Broja, who spent an unsuccessful six-months on loan with Fulham in 2023/24, is deemed surplus to requirements and has very little prospect of featuring for the Blues this season.

Meanwhile, Ipswich are close to completing the signing of Jack Clarke after the 23-year-old attacker underwent a medical ahead of his move from Sunderland.
