Chelsea turn down Bayern loan bid for Nkunku | OneFootball

Chelsea have rejected an offer from Bayern Munich for out-of-favour forward Christopher Nkunku.

Bayern attempted to sign the 27-year-old on an initial loan deal, but the Blues are determined to cut him loose on a permanent deal, according to the Times.

The clubs were reportedly in talks over the weekend, with Bayern exploring several ways to sign Nkunku on loan. But Chelsea have made it clear that the Frenchman will not leave on a temporary deal.

Chelsea are looking to trim their squad further this summer to fund moves for RB Leipzig star Xavi Simons and Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho.

Nkunku is not in Chelsea’s long-term plans, and the Blues have even reduced their asking price to generate interest in the France international.

Serie A giants Inter Milan are also keeping tabs on his situation. They would also be open to a permanent deal for Nkunku, but they’re yet to make any concrete moves.

Leipzig have considered a reunion but would struggle to convince the Frenchman to sign for them as they cannot offer Champions League football.

Bayern seem like Nkunku’s only option if he leaves Chelsea this summer. But it remains to be seen if both sides can agree a deal.

Nkunku has struggled to settle at Stamford Bridge since his £52 million move from Leipzig in 2023.

Injuries hindered his debut season. It prevented him from establishing himself under Mauricio Pochettino, while he has struggled to find a permanent spot in Enzo Maresca’s team.

He played a part in Chelsea’s Club World Cup success, but a minor injury delayed his return to pre-season.

The forward still has four years remaining on his Chelsea contract, meaning the club are under no immediate pressure to sell.
