Enzo Fernández scored the only goal of the game as Chelsea defeated Tottenham Hotspur.
The key moment of the game came early into the second half after an even first period that ended in a scuffle between the two fierce rivals.
Ange Postecoglou will be disappointed about his team's inability to clear their lines which led to Fernández being able to head Cole Palmer's cross past Guglielmo Vicario from close range.
The Blues will have felt like that they should have doubled in the 57th minute when Ruben Colwill fired home but his effort was ruled out for offside.
Then it was Spurs time to have a goal disallowed. Pape Matar Sarr, a substitute midway through the second half, won the ball from Moisés Caicedo in midfield before moving forward and seeing his shot fire into the net.
However, VAR decided it was a foul and Craig Pawson agreed with what he saw on the monitor.
That disallowed goal seemed to take the wind out of Spurs' sails which meant Enzo Maresca's side earned a much-needed three points against their fierce rivals ahead of their visit away to Brentford at the weekend.
