Chelsea scored an excellent win in Napoli on Wednesday night but may lack the same spark at home to West Ham on Saturday, says Dave Tindall...

  • Chelsea have shown more firepower on the road

Blues going well under Rosenoir

Many were ready to jump on new boss Liam Rosenoir if his start at Chelsea was a poor one. But, so far, the overall feeling among the potential doubters is 'fair play'.

Wins will give any incoming manager immediate credit and Rosenoir has managed five in six games since taking over from the departed Enzo Maresca. The only loss came against Arsenal.

But as well as the wins, there have been goals. In those five victories, over Charlton, Brentford, Pafos, Crystal Palace and Napoli, Chelsea have scored 14 goals. They even scored twice in the Carabao Cup loss to Arsenal so that's 16 in six games.

While Rosenoir loves to churn out words and would look the part doing a TED Talk, his team are doing plenty of talking on the pitch. And with the mood improved at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea are an exciting prospect if all their young players continue to thrive.

Fresh hope for Hammers

When West Ham lost to Nottingham Forest in early January, the fears of relegation really ramped up. That 2-1 loss represented a 10th straight Premier League game without a win and left them seven points clear of safety.

But suddenly there is a burst of fresh hope. A 2-1 victory at Tottenham changed the script and the Hammers backed that up with a 3-1 home win over Sunderland.

Nuno Espirito Santo's men roared into a 3-0 half-time lead against the Black Cats - something unheard of at the London Stadium where West Ham have lost eight times this season.

The Hammers still ended last weekend five adrift of fourth-bottom Forest but suddenly other teams are in sight. West Ham remain clear odds-on for relegation at 1.6, however there has been a drift with over 10k being traded on the exchange between 1.21 and 1.23.

Chelsea dominate head-to-heads

You'd expect Chelsea to have had the upper hand in this fixture but perhaps not to the extent of the last four meetings. The Blues have won all four with an aggregate score of 15-2.

That includes a 5-1 mauling at the London Stadium back in August when West Ham actually took the lead through a beauty from the now departed Lucas Paqueta.

Chelsea are 1/2 to complete the double with victory on Saturday, while West Ham are 5/1 and The Draw 3/1.

One thing to check first is how Chelsea perform on the back of away trips in the Champions League.

So far they've lost 2-1 at Manchester United (after a trip to Bayern), beaten Wolves 3-0 (after Qarabag) and defeated Everton 2-0 (after Atalanta).

That's a decent record, especially as the game at Old Trafford saw goalkeeper Robert Sanchez sent off after just five minutes.

Despite West Ham's mini-revival, Chelsea should probably have too much.

Goal count could be lower than expected

While Chelsea's increased goal power is making headlines, it's fair to note that 11 of the 16 have come away from home.

When Chelsea beat Brentford 2-0 and Pafos 1-0 in back-to-back games at Stamford Bridge, there was hardly a feeling that we were watching 1970 Brazil.

So after the high of Naples, I have a feeling that this could be a more lacklustre affair with Chelsea maybe struggling to go through the gears.

In which case the goal quotes could be too high. Over 2.5 is just 1/2 so that leaves some value in Under 2.5 at 6/4.

A couple of other things to support that...

Chelsea have scored five more goals on the road than they have at home while West Ham have shipped seven fewer goals on their travels than at the London Stadium.

Also, this is a quick turnaround for the Blues - they played Wednesday night and now here on Saturday evening. They surely would have had more spark with a Tuesday-Sunday sechedule.

Trio stand out for goalscorer plays

Three players - two from Chelsea and one from West Ham - stand out for anytime goalscorer punts.

Joao Pedro has four in five games since Rosenoir took over and, stretching further back, seven in his last 13 in all comps. A darling of fantasy players at the start of the season, he's pushing to be recalled to line-ups once again. The Brazilian is 5/4 to score.

Enzo Fernandez has celebrated three goals under Rosenoir and has five in nine. Three of those are penalties although they might be taken off him if Cole Palmer returns to the starting line-up. The Argentine, who is enjoying playing in a more advanced role, is 2/1 anytime.

For West Ham, Crysenico Summerville has three in three after strikes against QPR, Tottenham and Sunderland. He's 11/2.

I'm not expecting lots of goals but for those that do, an anytime double on Fernandez and Summerville pays just under 18/1.
