Blues need a reaction as Cherries bid farewell to Antoine Semenyo

Chelsea are again licking their wounds as they welcome Bournemouth to Stamford Bridge after another frustrating result.

OneFootball Videos

A brilliant first-half display against Aston Villa, which saw Joao Pedro take the lead, led to a disastrous second half as Ollie Watkins came off the bench to score twice and seal an 11th consecutive win.

It leaves Chelsea 10 points off the top three, all but ending their faint hopes of a title challenge as Manchester City, Arsenal and Villa keep on winning.

Bournemouth, meanwhile, are faring even worse, and went down 4-1 at Brentford at the weekend to make it nine games without a win in the Premier League, and could be waving goodbye to star man Antoine Semenyo before an expected move to Manchester City.

Date, kick-off time and venue

Chelsea vs Bournemouth is scheduled for a 7.30pm GMT kick-off on Tuesday, December 29, 2025.

The match will take place at Stamford Bridge, in west London.

Chelsea vs Bournemouth team news

Chelsea face a nervous wait over Marc Cucurella after the defender asked to be substituted against Villa with a suspected hamstring injury. He will undergo scans on the problem area. Fellow left-sided defender Jorrel Hato is expected to miss out with an injury.

Liam Delap and Estevao came off the bench against Villa, marking their returns from injury, and both could start as Enzo Maresca continues to shuffle his pack. Wesley Fofana was another on the bench at the weekend, but should come back in in place of Benoit Badiashile.

David Brooks, Evanilson and Justin Kluivert will all be pushing to start after coming off the bench against Brentford, so Bournemouth could boast a completely changed attack in west London.

Antoine Semenyo could be playing his final game for Bournemouth ahead of a suspected move to Chelsea. Veljko Milosavljevic, Tyler Adams and Ben Doak remain sidelined.

Chelsea vs Bournemouth prediction

Chelsea were superb in the first half against Aston Villa, and more of the same against one of the most porous defences in the league will surely bear fruit.

Chelsea’s attack was rampant and littered the Villa goal with shots, so are good enough to rack up enough chances to give the Cherries another tough afternoon in west London.

The big danger is, of course, Semenyo. Will he have a goodbye gift up his sleeve?

Chelsea to win, 2-0.
