Chelsea welcome Newcastle United to Stamford Bridge, looking for a win that could take them back into the top four.
The Blues are coming off a 5-2 humbling at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League and desperately need to respond.
However, Newcastle will not simply roll over. Eddie Howe’s side is also battling for a European place. They need a positive result.
Both teams could use a win, setting up an intriguing clash with massive repercussions in the race for European football.
Fans looking for a guide to watching soccer games live have come to the right place.
The clash between Chelsea and Newcastle United will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Premier League and Sky Sports Ultra HDR, with kick-off scheduled for 17:30 (UK time).
Viewers can also stream the game live via the Sky Go service or NOW TV for those with the relevant sports package, offering access across mobile devices, tablets and smart TVs.
Chelsea were tipped to compete for the league title this term following their FIFA Club World Cup success. But the Blues have struggled for consistency.
They have dismissed Enzo Maresca and hired Liam Rosenior, but the Englishman’s appointment has not made much of a difference.
The West Londoners remain the same wildly inconsistent side and continue to falter in the biggest games.
However, this weekend presents an exciting opportunity. With Aston Villa and Manchester United facing off, Chelsea can leapfrog one of them and take fourth place.
Their recent league form has been mixed.
Back-to-back draws against Leeds United and Burnley slowed momentum, though a convincing 4–1 win over Aston Villa in their last home outing underlined their potential.
Much of that threat has come through Joao Pedro, who has enjoyed a superb campaign.
The Brazilian striker has 14 league goals and leads the division for goals scored in 2026, forming a potent partnership with Cole Palmer in the final third.
Chelsea’s issue has been defensive consistency. Rosenior’s team have kept just three clean sheets in 16 matches since he took charge.
The goalkeeping situation remains under scrutiny following Filip Jorgensen’s costly mistake in Paris.
Newcastle arrive with European matters of their own to consider.
The Magpies earned a 1–1 draw with Barcelona in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie, conceding a stoppage-time penalty after appearing set for a memorable victory.
That leaves the tie finely poised ahead of next week’s trip to Spain, which could influence Howe’s team selection at Stamford Bridge.
Domestically, the Magpies sit 12th and nine points adrift of the Champions League places.
Their away form has been particularly problematic, scoring just 14 goals in 14 league matches on the road this season.
Still, they showed their resilience in their last league outing with a 2–1 victory over Manchester United, where substitute William Osula scored a late winner.
History strongly favours Chelsea heading into the weekend.
The Blues have won 11 of their last 12 Premier League home games against Newcastle, drawing the other, with the Magpies’ last victory at Stamford Bridge coming back in May 2012.
Despite that record, recent meetings between the clubs have been far more competitive.
Newcastle have avoided defeat in five of the last seven Premier League clashes between the sides.
The reverse fixture earlier this season ended in a 2–2 draw at St James’ Park.
Newcastle raced into a two-goal lead through a brace from Nick Woltemade before second-half goals from Reece James and Joao Pedro rescued a point for Chelsea.
Chelsea are close to full strength heading into the match.
Defender Levi Colwill remains a long-term absentee with a knee injury, while winger Jamie Gittens has returned to the squad after recent fitness concerns.
Unfortunately, teenage star Estevao Willian remains sidelined.
One of Rosenior’s biggest decisions will be in goal. Jorgensen’s mistake in Paris has intensified calls to recall Robert Sanchez in goal for Saturday’s fixture.
Meanwhile, Newcastle travel to London without several key players.
Midfield talisman Bruno Guimaraes remains sidelined with a thigh injury, while defender Fabian Schar and full-back Emil Krafth are also unavailable.
Young midfielder Lewis Miley is edging closer to a return, but this match is expected to come too soon for him.
There is also uncertainty over Anthony Gordon, who has been unwell recently and could be rested ahead of the decisive Champions League second leg against Barcelona.
