Chelsea host Sunderland on Saturday aiming for a fifth consecutive victory in all competitions as Enzo Maresca’s young side continues to build momentum.
After a tricky start, the Blues have hit form, climbing the Premier League table and impressing in Europe. Consequently, they will be confident of extending their strong run. Stamford Bridge has been a fortress for Chelsea throughout 2025. In fact, only Manchester City have collected more home points this calendar year.
Maresca’s side are also looking to continue their recent dominance over the Black Cats, having won the last three home league meetings convincingly. Furthermore, Chelsea’s potency from set-pieces could be key against a Sunderland defence potentially reshuffled due to injury.
Enzo Maresca has confirmed no new injuries from the midweek win but faces selection issues due to suspension and existing absentees. Malo Gusto and Mykhailo Mudryk are both banned, while Cole Palmer, Benoît Badiashile, Levi Colwill, and Dario Essugo remain out. On a positive note, Liam Delap has returned to training.
João Pedro is available again after serving a European suspension and could start in an attacking midfield role. Striker Marc Guiu is also pushing for a start after scoring against Ajax on Wednesday. Wesley Fofana is expected to partner Trevoh Chalobah in central defence.
Chelsea predicted XI: Sanchez; James, Fofana, Chalobah, Cucurella; Caicedo, Fernandez; Estevao, Joao Pedro, Neto; Guiu
The Premier League fixture will kick off at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, 25 October 2025, at 3:00 pm BST.
The match will not be broadcast live in the UK due to the 3:00 pm Saturday blackout.
