The big transfer story in the Premier League right now is Rodri. After a long summer of links to Real Madrid, the Man City midfielder has made his decision – he has decided on Barcelona instead.
That has been communicated to Man City, and pretty publicly to the world by his agent. Negotiations have begun, and despite a big gap between Barca’s opening offer and City’s asking price, the momentum behind this deal means it feels likely to get done sooner or later.

What’s this got to do with Chelsea? Well all the reports on the subject are claiming that Enzo Fernandez is going to be City’s main target to replace Rodri. The Argentine is a very different type of player, but he could still fit in at the Etihad.
Miguel Delaney’s piece for the Independent today says that City are looking at the former Benfica man, who made it very clear with the signals he sent out back in the spring that he would like to leave Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea paid £106m for Enzo in January 2023, and are said to want £120m for him now.
Chelsea are about to complete a deal for left back Pep Chavarria, who is in the UK right now taking his medical and signing paperwork with the club.
Jody Morris’ team to start against Fulham is similar to what most Chelsea fans would pick – and shows the big issue with the midfield right now.
