Chelsea Women have confirmed the signing of Lucy Bronze.

The 32-year-old returns to the Women’s Super League for a third time, following spells with Everton, Liverpool and Manchester City.

Bronze joined Barcelona in 2022, winning back-to-back Liga F and Women’s Champions League titles during a two-year spell.

But the England international chose to leave the Catalans at the end of June when her previous contract expired.

‘To know I’m a Chelsea player still feels a little bit surreal,” said Bronze.

“It’s obviously a club I know so much about and have done for such a long time. I’m really excited to be back in England. My family are so excited as well to get to more of my games.

“I’m excited to be in London, to see what the capital holds and to be at a club that is renowned for winning so many trophies.”

She becomes the fourth signing of Sonia Bompastor’s reign after she succeeded Emma Hayes with the Blues this summer.

Former Blaugrana teammate Júlia Bartel previously signed with the WSL champions.
