Chelsea held off an Arsenal fightback in the Barclays Women’s Super League watched by over 45,000 at Emirates Stadium.
Mayra Ramirez scored in only the fourth minute, hooking a shot over her shoulder and the ball dropping inside Daphne van Domselaar’s far post.
Chelsea got a second just after a quarter of an hour, Lauren James crossing to present Sydney Baltimore with a free header at the far post.
Arsenal gave themselves hope of turning it around, Caitlin Foord scoring from an acute angle and in off the post close to half time.
Van Domselaar turned an Aggie Beever-Jones header round the upright, then with five minutes to go Stina Blackstenius was denied by the Chelsea crossbar.
Alessia Russo hit a volley straight at Hannah Hampton in stoppage time, Beever-Jones was through at the other end but shot at Van Domselaar.
Sonia Bompastor’s side now have three wins from three and lead the table, Jonas Eidevall’s team have one win from four.
