Chelsea are reportedly working on a massive deal for a starting Liverpool player. This could really shake things up.

Chelsea supposedly have their eyes on a Liverpool player as they continue their mammoth challenge to sign every professional footballer. The Blues even sign players for other clubs now, with Julio Enciso joining Strasbourg with a view to eventually moving to Stamford Bridge.

The Reds moved to break their transfer record twice, with the latter a new British transfer record. That breaks the record Chelsea held, in fact.

Then there were the sales, with Liverpool moving on several first-team stars as they overhauled their squad. That's a situation that may well continue in 2026 and Chelsea, it seems, want to get involved.

Chelsea eye Ibrahima Konate

Empire Of The Kop claims Chelsea are one of the three main teams in for Ibrahima Konate next year. Konate's contract will expire at the end of the season unless he agrees on new terms with the Reds.

But how likely is that?

Liverpool have already tried to get a new deal done with the Frenchman but he appears reluctant to sign it. There's always been a suggestion that they could get him to agree the deal with a significant pay bump but the Reds appear equally reluctant to do that.

Chelsea, then, feel as though they can take advantage of the situation. They're far from the only club seeing things that way, however.
