Chelsea youngster makes surprise return to squad as injury predictions proved wrong

Kendry Paez looked set to miss several weeks after picking up a painful-looking shoulder injury – but he’s already back in the squad.

We’ve been reporting in the last few days on what looked like a nasty shoulder injury for Kendry Paez.
The Ecuadorian wonderkid has just joined River Plate on loan, and after just a couple of appearances off the bench, he looked to have seriously hurt himself last week. Most sources were claiming he would be out for two to four weeks.
However, the team for tonight’s game against Banfield has the youngster back in it, surprisingly.

This is fantastic news all around. After a pretty disastrous spell in Europe with Strasbourg, the 18 year old needs a fresh start and to make a big impact in Argentina. A bad injury would have been the worst possible start for him to make, so we’re happy that it’s not as bad as feared.
The game kicks off at 22.30 tonight UK time, so we’ll be keeping an eye on him to see if he gets any minutes off the bench. It will be legendary River coach Marcelo Gallardo’s final game in charge, so there will be a lot going on in any case.
Cole Palmer hasn’t been at his best this season, there’s no denying it, and someone at the PFA is pretty sure they know why that is.
The appointment of Liam Rosenior was seen as a bit of a gamble by Chelsea fans, but one pundit likes his style so far.
