Chelsea youngster Maresca likes “more than the rest” signs first professional contract with the Blues

Chelsea youngster Reggie Walsh has signed his first professional contract with the club after he turned 17 years old.
Walsh is one of the biggest talents in Chelsea’s academy and first joined the Blues as an Under-8, before eventually signing scholarship terms in the summer.
Enzo Maresca handed Walsh his first team debut last season, and he’s now a regular in Chelsea’s under-21 side as well as training with the first team.
Maresca handed Walsh his Champions League debut as a second half substitute in the 5-1 thrashing of Ajax, as he became the youngster player to play for the Blues in the competition.
Chelsea have an exciting group of youngsters coming through at the moment, but Maresca has singled Walsh out as his favourite.

As if making his Champions League debut wasn’t enough, the week has got even better as it was announced on Friday Walsh had signed his first professional contract with Chelsea.
The 17-year-old also appeared as a late substitute in the Carabao Cup win against Lincoln, but he faces a tough task forcing his way into the Chelsea midfield.
The Blues are stacked with quality in the centre of the park with the likes of Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia.
The youngster has plenty of time to develop, and it will be interesting to see how many more first team opportunities he gets throughout the season.
Chelsea’s Cobham academy is renowned for producing top quality youngsters, and Walsh is yet another one off the production line.
