The Athletic’s Deal Sheet this week is all about Chelsea’s potential January business as the Blues reach the end of an impressive first half of the season.
The Blues have signed so many players in the last few years, and some of them are still recently arrived, so major additions aren’t expected. But there will be some movement without doubt. In fact, sales look much more likely.

Top of the list in that category is Axel Disasi. The defender has been in the “bomb squad” since the summer, and while a move couldn’t be sorted out back then, there’s clearly hope that a move can be sorted out next month. He’s trained with the first team in recent weeks to get him closer to match fitness and make a quick exit possible.
Then there’s Tyrique George – he almost completed a deadline day move to Fulham in the summer, and after a few decent appearances and some goals and assists for Chelsea since then, one would assume there will still be interest in him too – perhaps even more so.
Raheem Sterling is in the same situation as Disasi, but with his huge wages and his desire to stay in London making a departure seem far less likely.
As for loan shuffling – most of them are going well, and there are no overt disasters we need to worry about.
Chelsea don’t look likely to be getting into too much January business this year, at least according to the Athletic, who claim that sales are more likely in the winter window.
While things go well at Chelsea, one of their future players has got himself in trouble again – Emanuel Emegha has annoyed Strasbourg fans with another faux pas.
