There’s a very speculative story published by CaughtOffside today that Chelsea are interested in a £300m La Liga double swoop for Fermin Lopez and Julian Alvarez.
It’s just so unrealistic, given out transfer policy. But one side of that deal has a change.

Now why do we think that the Fermin interest has more truth to it? Well, there a few reasons.
The fact that top sources reported on it back in the summer gives it more credibility. At the very least, we know the Blues were interested at one point. Fabrizio Romano says there was direct contact between the clubs.
Then there’s the profile of the signing – Fermin is 22, young enough for Chelsea to consider him as potentially profitable, if they get him for the right price. And why would they get him at the right price?
Well the whispers in the summer, which seem sustained to this day, are that Barca would consider selling him. They are always looking to raise liquid cash, and see Fermin as a disposable asset given he’s home grown and they’ve got lots of other attacking talent.
It’s a stretch to see their price coming low enough for Chelsea to meet it. But if the Blues decide to try and flip last summer’s winger signings again, expect Fermin to be on the list.
We’re curious to see how Chelsea line up in their first PROPER game of the Liam Rosenior era – we hope he uses an idea that his assistant tried at Fulham a week ago, with Cole Palmer out wide and Enzo Fernandez in the hole.
Antoine Semenyo was briefly pursued by Chelsea earlier this month, before they clearly realised a deal with Man City was pretty much already done.
