The deal that took Nicolas Jackson to Bayern Munich on loan for the season was pretty messy, and came within moment of being called off.
It doesn’t look like it’s getting any less messy. The German club took him for the season in return for €16.5m. They have a clause to buy him for €65m, but he won’t get the 40 appearances needed to trigger it.

Nicolas Jackson holds up a Bayern shirt ahead of his move.
Kieran Gill’s Daily Mail piece today claims that Jackson has “little interest” in returning to Chelsea at the end of the season. He’s certainly made that pretty clear with some of his quotes since. But Bayern might not want to buy him.
Jackson is hoping they do:
“I’ve also been told Jackson hopes, even if he doesn’t meet the 40-game clause in his contract, that Bayern will commit to signing him permanently next summer regardless,” Gill wrote.
“But at the moment, it’s feeling more unlikely than likely that Jackson will be staying at Bayern this summer.”
From Chelsea’s point of view, we can see financially why they thought the potential €72m they would get from Bayern was too much to turn down. But if the German club are going to offer significantly less, the Blues might just prefer to have the Senegal star back in their own team.
Will he accept that? Will someone else come in with an offer to make everyone happy? It could get pretty ugly come next summer.
Alejandro Garnacho took full advantage of Chelsea’s run of games between international breaks, looking effective after getting up to speed physically and nailing down a left wing spot. The stats are all very positive.
John Terry has been on Jon Obi Mikel’s podcast, where he talked about Joao Pedro and said that the striker has been impressing in training with the Blues. We just need to see a little more of that on the pitch now…
