Chelsea’s interim head coach Calum McFarlane says that the club have a player who is “super professional” in the U21s.

McFarlane is usually the head coach of the Chelsea U21s team but at the moment he is doing a temporary job as head coach of the first team after Enzo Maresca and Chelsea parted ways on New Years Day.

EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea in for Ivory Coast international winger!

Liam Rosenior was officially confirmed as the new head coach of Chelsea Football Club yesterday as he left his role as Strasbourg manager.

Maresca leaving the club was apparently a decision that would have likely come as a big shock to the unhappy players.

But both things have happened now and it is time to move on for all parties involved. Rosenior will take charge of his first Chelsea game at the weekend, an FA Cup clash against Charlton.

In the meantime though, McFarlane will take the game against Fulham tonight and therefore he conducted the pre-match press conference for it yesterday.

McFarlane asked about Disasi

Axel Disasi playing for Chelsea’s U-21 Development Squad.

Centre back Axel Disasi, who is still somehow at the club but will surely be departing this transfer window, has been playing under McFarlane for the U21s this season.

On Disasi, the interim boss said:

“He’s been around the 21s for a while, really good when with us, super professional. It’s been great for the young players to play with someone so experienced.”

Needs a move now

Disasi needs to move to a new club this month, there are no two ways about it. If he continues to rot in the U21s then his value will decrease massively.

I very much doubt that new manager Rosenior will consider bringing him back into the first team fold either, and it’s best for all involved that he departs as soon as possible to go and player regular football for a senior team again.
