Xabi Alonso is being linked more and more with the Chelsea job recently, and one journalist is now saying he’s the “main target” for the Blues.

Portuguese journalist Pedro Almeida has become the latest to back the story that Xabi Alonso could be the new Chelsea manager.
He says that the Basque coach is the “main target” for the Blues this summer, meaning he’s moved ahead of former favourite Andoni Iraola in the Blues’ thinking.
This is still a long way from being done – we don’t yet know if Alonso even wants the job, or what other roles he might be holding out for.
But it certainly seems it’s becoming more likely as each day passes.
This isn’t the only movement in the market today – Jose Mourinho is about to be confirmed as the new Real Madrid manager, taking over the role that Alonso left earlier in the year.
He will leave Benfica, and Marco Silva (another coach linked with Chelsea) is expected to replace him in Lisbon, taking him out of the equation at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea fans are struggling to connect with their club and its players right now, as someone explained to Joe Cole recently.
Cole also spoke in the interview about Cole Palmer and how he thought the attacker should go to the World Cup with England – we’re not so sure he deserves it, on current form.
