Chery salvages late point for NEC Nijmegen as VAR rules out late winner

NEC Nijmegen 1-1 Telstar at the Goffertstadion, Tjaronn Chery's late equaliser keeping NEC third while Telstar remain 16th in the relegation play-off place.
In the 32nd minute Sem van Duijn put Telstar ahead from the centre of the box after Cedric Hatenboer's pass.
After the restart, Ronald Koeman made key saves as the visitors sat deep, thwarting efforts from Eli Dasa and Chery while the hosts piled on crosses.
The hosts shifted gear when Danilo came on (66.), his touch releasing Chery to sweep in the equaliser (85.). Koki Ogawa then crashed a header against the bar (88.).
Youssef El Kachati thought he had won it, but the goal was ruled out for offside after a VAR check (89.).
NEC Nijmegen registered 21 attempts, seven on target, and forced nine corners with 69.5% possession. Telstar made 52 clearances, and Koeman finished with five saves.
