Matveï Safonov will begin next season as PSG’s number one, underlining Luis Enrique’s meritocracy. A firm hierarchy is in place and Lucas Chevalier is weighing his future.

According to L'Équipe, the 27-year-old displaced Chevalier in winter to help secure the club’s second Champions League, and Chevalier and Alessandro Longoni could complete the goalkeeping group.

Chevalier joined from LOSC a year ago for €55m. The 24-year-old has found the demotion difficult. Besiktas and Tottenham are monitoring, and Aston Villa could move if Emiliano Martinez, 33, joins Juventus.

PSG intend to keep him unless he asks to go and a suitable offer arrives. He has been told to fight for his place. If he forces an exit, the club would recruit immediately to keep two established options.

PSG are finalising the free signing of 18-year-old Longoni from AC Milan on a three-year first professional deal. Regarded as a leading European talent in his position, he will split time between youth sides and the senior group.

Renato Marin started twice in Ligue 1 at the end of the season. Turning 20 on 10 July, he is highly rated and is heading for a season-long loan, with options in Ligue 1, Spain and Portugal.

Martin James, 18, will leave after rejecting a first professional deal. A Youth League starter last season and involved with the senior group, he wanted a bigger role than PSG could guarantee short term.
