Chicago Fire FC have loaned homegrown defender Christopher Cupps to Scottish Championship side Greenock Morton FC through the remainder of 2026, the club announced Monday.

The 18-year-old center back broke through with the Fire for the first time last season and has made seven appearances for the senior team, including two this year. He's also featured extensively for Chicago's MLS NEXT Pro affiliate, Chicago Fire FC II.

“We are excited to see Christopher continue to develop during the rest of the year in a new and challenging environment,” said sporting director Gregg Broughton. “He has a very high potential and promising future at the Chicago Fire and has stepped up to every challenge he has faced so far.

"Playing competitive matches during the rest of the year will only help him mature as a player and as a person.”

Internationally, Cupps has represented the United States at every youth level from U-15 to U-20. Most recently, he started four matches at the 2026 Concacaf U-20 Championship, helping the US reach the final.
