ALAJUELA, Costa Rica – The 2025/26 Concacaf W Qualifiers continued with Costa Rica earning a 21-nil win over the Cayman Islands in Group C on Friday at Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto in Alajuela, Costa Rica. 

Priscila Chinchilla led the way with seven goals, scoring three in the first half and four in the second as part of an offensive onslaught.

María Salas and Rocky Rodríguez also added hat tricks for the hosts, who were up 9-nil at the break.

Costa Rica had eight different scorers, with braces from Sheika Scott and Mariana Benavides, which included a brilliant free kick over the wall in the 13’ and a blast from outside of the box in the 33’.

Entering the game, Las Ticas trailed Guatemala by 13 goals in differential. With the result, they now have an eight-goal advantage heading into a crucial final match in the Qualifiers.

Costa Rica will face Guatemala on April 18 for direct qualification to the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027. Cayman Islands closes out its qualifying cycle against Grenada on April 14.
