Chivas Femenil Defeat Cruz Azul and Make It Back-to-Back Wins in AP26 | OneFootball

They rediscovered their form, pressed high and dominated every facet of the game. Chivas Femenil defeated Cruz Azul 1-0 tonight at Estadio Centenario de Morelos, in a result that fell short of reflecting the Rojiblancas' superiority. Antonio Contreras' side reached 18 points in the Apertura 2026 and strengthened its hold on second place in Group B.

The Rebaño's intentions were clear from the opening whistle: to take the initiative, press high and compete for every ball. And they certainly did not take long to show it on the scoreboard, with a great combination between ‘Licha’ Cervantes and Denise Castro that resulted in an early goal. It was Guadalajara's No. 22 who pulled the strings alongside Mauleón, creating play and controlling the tempo of the match.

Although a one-goal lead was not enough, the Tapatío side demonstrated the maturity they have developed throughout the tournament to deal with Cruz Azul's attempts, using their defensive organization and quick transitions to continue creating danger in front of the capital side's goal. Chivas Femenil will now prepare for their Matchday 10 AP26 clash, when they host FC Juárez at Estadio AKRON. The match is set for Sunday, October 4, at 5 PM, as the Rojiblancas look to return to winning ways at home.

- In the 2nd minute, Denise knocked on the Celeste door for the first time, with a volley from the edge of the box that went just over the crossbar.

- In the 3rd minute, ‘Licha’ broke away down the right, took on the goalkeeper and fired a shot, but Solís' quick reaction off her line prevented the goal.

- In the 45+1st minute, after a quick recovery, Montoya found Castro inside the box, who got a touch on the ball with her head but could not get enough placement to score her second.
