Chivas Femenil used sacrifice, character and top-quality goals to turn the scoreline around and beat León 1-3 at the Nou Camp Stadium in Matchday 13 of the Clausura 2025. Antonio Contreras' team thus reached 23 points in the tournament and could end the day in fifth place in the standings.
Despite the fact that the first 45 minutes of the match were complicated for Guadalajara, which was unable to finish the plays it created, added to the fact that it was behind on the scoreboard and that the referee disallowed the equalizer before halftime, the team from Guadalajara showed a new face in the second half. A lot of collective effort, a hunger for victory and some truly great goals from 'Licha' Cervantes, 'Cheli' Torres and 'Viri' Salazar secured the turnaround and a much-needed three points for the team.
Now, the Rebaño will focus entirely on the Clásico Tapatío, which will be played this Sunday, March 23 at 4 PM at the Verde Valle.
The Goals
- At 41', Rubí Soto opened the scoring for the home team from the penalty spot.- WHAT A GOAL YOU SCORED, 'LICHA'! At 50' Cervantes chested it down inside the box and on the run, she took a left-footed cross to tie the score.- 'CHELA' SCORES! At 62', Guadalajara combined down the right to set up Araceli Torres, who classily pumped the ball past Buenfil to turn the game around.- ANOTHER GREAT GOAL BY 'VIRI'! In a prefabricated play at 77', 'Caro' set up Salazar at the halfway line; the Rojiblanca 30 took off the mark with a cutback and left-footed the ball into the far corner.
Dangerous moments
- At 4', the Rebaño had their first warning, with a left-footed shot from 'Montse' that went just wide.- At 12', Celeste Espino held on and got her hand out in time to deny the Esmeraldas their first goal with a shot from the right.- 'Licha' came close! Cervantes and Salazar joined forces at 19' for the 'Depredadora' to get one-on-one and try to roof Buenfil, but an offside call was made.- At 29', 'Caro' tried from distance with his right foot after getting away from the mark, but his shot went over the goal.- Great play by 'Viri' that came to nothing! At 35' Jaramillo projected Salazar in front of the goal, with a feint he got out of his mark and took the shot, but it went over the goal.- In the last play of the first half, 'Licha' had tied the match with his head from a corner kick, but the referee indicated an alleged foul inside the area, which invalidated the goal.- At 72', Yamile Franco collected a rebound at the halfway line and looked for Buenfil's far post, but her contact was not the best.- At 76', 'Caro' came very close after Casandra held the ball inside the area and served it to her in front of the goal to take a shot, but an opponent deflected the shot.- At 88', 'Boyi' drove down the right and found a shooting angle to test Buenfil from underneath, but the goalkeeper blocked the shot.
