Chivas Have Always Felt at Home at Estadio Jalisco

When we talk about who the true team of the city is, things do not change. Guadalajara belongs to Guadalajara, and the Estadio Jalisco has been the main witness to the development of the oldest rivalry in Mexican soccer. Guadalajara have always felt at home when playing in the stadium on Calzada Independencia; that was the case for 50 years and it still holds true today when they “visit” Atlas Fútbol Club.

This Saturday, the Rojiblanco team returns to that venue to play the Clásico Tapatío corresponding to Matchday 10 of the Liga MX Clausura 2026, and the numbers do not lie: the trend at the Jalisco shows that Chivas have been clearly superior to their city rival. In the last 9 matches there, they have won 4, drawn 4, and lost only once. Incidentally, that defeat did not help the Zorros much, as they won the first leg of the CL23 Quarterfinals but were eventually eliminated in that playoff series after losing at the Estadio AKRON.

One very revealing statistic in this stretch of matches is that whenever Chivas scored, they never lost. Additionally, they kept a clean sheet against the Rojinegros on three occasions. If we expand the view to the historical record in the short-tournament era, Guadalajara has 14 wins, 15 draws, and 6 losses when playing as the administrative away team at the Jalisco.

This Saturday, Chivas supporters will surely make their presence felt in the stands and pack the Coloso de la Calzada Independencia. It will be a true Rojiblanco carnival to push the most Mexican team toward another victory in the national championship against its fiercest city rival.
