Chivas enjoyed a brilliant 4-1 win over Pumas on Sunday night, but qualification for the Liguilla did come at a cost.
With the sides level at 1-1 just after the half-hour mark, Pavel Pérez was introduced as a replacement for the injured Jesús Angulo.
It was an unfortunate incident that forced Angulo’s departure, as the Chivas attacker got his leg caught under the body of advancing Pumas goalkeeper Alfredo Talavera.
The Flock have since confirmed that the player has suffered a fractured fibula, thus ruling him out of the quarter-finals and beyond.
A post on the club’s official Twitter account confirmed the injury, adding that 25-year-old will undergo surgery on his leg on Monday.
Angulo will be a major loss to the Guadalajara outfit, as they now prepare for a two-legged tie against city rivals Atlas.
