Ahead of the match against Monterrey on 7 November, Chivas defender Gilberto Sepúlveda spoke about the club’s determination to fight for a spot in the Liguilla.

As per a club statement, the player first reflected on the recent 2-2 draw against Pumas which saw them drop valuable points.

“Personally, the result left me a bit annoyed and dissatisfied,” said Sepúlveda.

“But it is important to highlight the way the team saw itself, it tried, it was always in front and we all ran, that leaves me calm.”

He went on to add that the team is focused on the upcoming “intense and complicated” matches and aims to use playing at home as a motivator even without fans.

Showing their development in defence will also be a priority.

“Monterrey has one of the best offences and that will represent a great parameter in this tournament closure.”

“The truth is I see myself going to the Liguilla … you cannot give anything away, no team is easy and we have to pay as much attention as we can.”

Víctor Manuel Vucetich’s side currently sit eighth in the standings with 23 points whereas Monterrey are fifth with 29.
