Chivas completed a second-half comeback to leapfrog over Santos Laguna into fifth position in the eLiga MX table.
With Fernando Beltrán handling the controller for the Flock and Eduardo ‘Lalo’ Aguirre doing the honours for Santos, it was a pretty even affair in the first half.
However, it was Santos who would draw first blood when Adrián Lozano finished off a devastating counter-attack from close range on the stroke of half time.
Chivas recovered from the setback, though, and Beltrán himself drew Los Rojiblancos level inside the opening four minutes of the restart with a thunderous drive from just inside the penalty area.
Oribe Peralta then gave the hosts the lead with just over 10 minutes remaining before adding a second goal to secure the victory with time basically up.
Lying seven points behind current leaders Pachuca after 15 games, Chivas seem well placed to make the play-offs.
However, Santos will now be looking over their shoulders as Los Guerreros battle to remain inside the top eight with just two of their scheduled 17 regular season games remaining.
