Cristian Chivu has now been coach of Inter Milan for nearly three months.

The Romanian has already taken charge of a few official matches for Inter. He was already in his post during the Club World Cup.

Meanwhile, Chivu has also guided the Nerazzurri through a few preseason friendlies.

However, today is the beginning of Chivu’s first Serie A season in charge of Inter, a team with whom he spent six years as a player and also coached at various youth team levels.

The Gazzetta dello Sport are expecting a “revolution” in Chivu’s approach to Inter.

The 44-year-old is reportedly planning to stick with the 3-5-2 formation against Torino. That is the same formation that not only Simone Inzaghi but also Antonio Conte had used at Inter.

Furthermore, in terms of personnel, Petar Sucic is the only summer signing expected to start. Otherwise, it will be familiar faces who Inzaghi relied upon.

However, the Gazzetta anticipate, despite these superficial similarities, the style of play will be quite different.

Chivu has not hid the fact that he wants to make Inter a more aggressive, direct team.

Therefore, the Gazzetta are anticipating a team that look to apply more pressure and higher up the pitch.

Furthermore, while the formation and personnel will be quite familiar from the start, there will likely be chances for several summer signings to make their debuts from the bench.

Therefore, by the end of the ninety minutes, the Gazzetta predict that the evidence will be much clearer. Chivu has new intentions for this team, and today’s Serie A opener will only be the start.
