Jay Stansfield was omitted from the FA Cup win over Cambridge United due to injury
Birmingham City manager Chris Davies has revealed some positive news on the injury front, as Jay Stansfield could be fit to return to action against Swansea City this coming Saturday.
Birmingham Live has reported that Stansfield has been "getting better" after the 23-year-old wasn't involved in the Blues' 3-2 win over Cambridge United in the FA Cup last weekend.
Stansfield has been a key part of Chris Davies' side this season, starting 24 of Birmingham's 26 league games upon their return to the Championship, and scoring a team-high eight goals.
However, it was revealed following his omission from the Cambridge clash that the striker had been dealing with a knock picked up over the Christmas period, which forced him out of an otherwise full-strength side against the League Two outfit last Saturday.
Luckily enough for Chris Davies, the knock seems to be shaking itself off pretty swiftly, and his star man could be back in contention as early as this weekend.

Chris Davies ran down his injury news ahead of a trip to South Wales in his press conference, and Birmingham Live has reported that it was good news regarding Stansfield.
Following the 3-2 win over Cambridge, the Blues boss admitted that the 23-year-old had been dealing with a knock for a few weeks, and after playing a full 90 minutes in the big 3-2 win over Coventry City at the end of the busy New Year schedule, he was forced to miss the cup tie.
"Jay picked up a knock a few weeks ago, and he's been carrying on with it. He did really well to get through the Coventry match as he did," he said last weekend.
"It's a knock, and we're hopeful that he's had a good week, and he's OK. It won't be long-term, but it's a knock that he's had to sit out with."
And it has been a good week, per reports, as the striker could return this weekend.
"He's getting better, definitely, so there's a good chance he could be back involved. We'll see how the next day or so goes," Davies said in his pre-Swansea press conference.
Stansfield's return would be welcomed more than ever, even if his replacement on Saturday, Kyogo Furuhashi, netted the second in the cup win.
With Birmingham slightly short-handed in the attacking areas currently due to the injury to Demarai Gray and departures of Lyndon Dykes and Keshi Anderson throughout the week, the Blues are in desperate need of an attacking boost.

Given the initial diagnosis being that Stansfield wasn't set to be out for the long-term, there wouldn't have been many alarm bells ringing if the 23-year-old had missed this weekend's game.
However, the current availability crisis at St Andrew's means that the prospective return of Birmingham's record signing is brilliant news ahead of a tough away trip.
The Blues have been dreadful on their travels so far this season, with only Sheffield Wednesday picking up fewer points per away game than Chris Davies' side. On the flip side, Swansea have won their last four home games in the Championship under Vitor Matos, conceding just once in the process.
Birmingham needs to use the momentum gained from their huge win over league leaders Coventry a fortnight ago, but without their talisman, that would have been a difficult task against the stubborn Swans.
If Stansfield can play any part in this Saturday's trip to South Wales, it would give Chris Davies' side a little more belief. After all, Birmingham have lost both of the Championship games in which he hasn't featured this season without scoring a goal.
So, Blues fans will now be travelling down waiting patiently and in the hope that the 23-year-old has passed the fitness test in time for Saturday teatime.
