TeamTalk reports that Tottenham Hotspur are expected to part company with interim manager Igor Tudor by mutual consent, with Chris Hughton and Adi Hutter under consideration before next month’s visit to Sunderland.
The move follows weeks of internal discussions, and there was an internal agreement that a defeat to Nottingham Forest on Sunday would prompt a change. Tudor is also prepared to step away after the death of his father, Mario, the report adds.
Tudor succeeded Thomas Frank last month and began with a 4-1 home loss to Arsenal. He is winless in five Premier League matches, collecting one point with a 1-1 draw at Liverpool.
His only victory came in Europe, a 3-2 home win over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League round of 16 second leg, but Spurs went out after a 5-2 first-leg defeat. They returned to league action with a 3-0 home reverse against fellow strugglers Forest, leaving them one point and one place above the relegation zone.
Hughton made more than 300 appearances for Spurs and spent 14 years on the staff as reserve, first-team, caretaker and assistant coach. He left in February 2008 to join Newcastle as first-team coach, later taking the job permanently after an interim spell.
He remains the last manager to guide Newcastle to a home win in a Tyne-Wear derby, achieved in October 2010. Should Spurs proceed with a change, the new interim’s first game would be at Sunderland on Sunday, 12 April, as the Black Cats chase Europe and aim to deepen their visitors’ relegation worries.
